Michelle Creel Crane -Micro PhotographyThe Ugly Shell explores the beauty of sea life, science, and storytelling through micro-imaging photographs. A Florida native, Michelle Creel Crane, uses her background in microscopy, coastal ecology, as well as experiences of coastal living around the world to share the stories of those ugly shells by revealing the beauty in their imperfections.
Originally from St. Louis, Christina Steffen moved here permanently 3 years ago after retiring from teaching high school art for 30 years in several school districts. During that time she earned her doctorate degree and was Director of Academic Services at Central Methodist University. After visiting the area during many spring breaks, she and her husband fell in love with the people and the water, and knew someday they would retire here. Christina loves combing the beaches for shells and driftwood, while her husband scuba dives for "gems" to integrate into her art.
